In Croatia, Hatić families are mainly Bosniaks (from Cazins Region (Bosnia) ), less frequently Croats (from Tuzla Region (Bosnia) ), and very rarely Slovenes (from Zagreb ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Cazin area) and in Sisak. In Tržačka Platnica in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every third inhabitant had the family name Hatić.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Hatić live in Croatia today, in 17 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 8 other places, mostly in Pula (10), Zagreb (<10), Rijeka (<10), Labin (<10), and in Sisak (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
