Harča families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Krizevci , rarely Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Krizevci and in Krizevci area. In places Dijankovec and Erdovec in Krizevci every ninth inhabitant had the family name Harča.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Harča live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 25 other places, mostly in Krizevci (35), Dijankovec (35), Zagreb (15), Donja Dubrava in Koprivnica area (<10), and in Erdovec (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
