Halilović families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Cazinska Krajina Region (Bosnia), whereas often Croats, very rarely Roms. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area). In Čoseta in Bosanian Posavina nearly every inhabitant had the family name Halilović.
Prevalence
About 690 people with faimily name Halilović live in Croatia today, in 290 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 56 cities and 85 other places, mostly in Zagreb (245), Pula (90), Rijeka (60), Sisak (50), and in Sesvete (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1942 in source Phone Directory of the Independent State of Croatia 1942.
