In Croatia, Guić families are almost entirely Croats (from the Island of Brac ), barely Italians (from Rijeka ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Brac. In Milna on the Island of Brac every thirtieth inhabitant had the family name Guić.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Guić live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are only located in in 6 Croatian cities and another small place , mostly in Split (25), Zagreb (<10), Supetar on the Island of Brac (<10), Rijeka (<5), and in Senj (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
