Gušić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Pozega area , also Bosniaks (from Banja Luka area, Bosnia) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Pozega area. In Kraljevići in Podrinje (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Gušić.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Gušić live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Rijeka (15), Dragovci in Pozega area (10), Vojnic in Duga Resa area (<10), and in Topusko in Glina area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
