Grujić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Daruvar area , whereas often Croats (iz Doboj area, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Osijek. In Gornji Borki in Daruvar area every third inhabitant had the family name Grujić.
Prevalence
About 530 people with faimily name Grujić live in Croatia today, in 280 households. There were 530 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 45 cities and 57 other places, mostly in Zagreb (110), Rijeka (45), Osijek (25), Split (20), and in Vukovar (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
