About 340 people with faimily name Grgat live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Otok in Sinj area (140), Zagreb (50), Split (25), Karlovac (20), and in Luzan (20).
Outside Croatia
At least three families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: the United States (1), Australia (1), and to Germany (1). Family name Grgat is present in four countries on three continents. The family name "Grgat " is used by small number of people in Australia and small number in the United States.
