In Croatia, Gostić families are Croats by relative majority (from Buje area ), equally Serbs, and very rarely Montenegrins (from Bar, Montenegro ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sisak and in Doboj, Bosnia (Doboj area).
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Gostić live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Rijeka (<10), Aljmas in Vinkovci area (<10), Zagreb (<10), Osijek (<5), and in Mirkovci (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1925 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
