Golubić families are Croats and they are mostly from Ludbreg area. According to some sources they are from Lika (Generalski Stol). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Varazdin. In Golubići in Samobor every second inhabitant had the family name Golubić.
Prevalence
About 2500 people with faimily name Golubić live in Croatia today, in 1000 households. There were 2500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 65 cities and 239 other places, mostly in Zagreb (475), Karlovac (105), Koprivnica (85), Varazdin (85), and in Cakovec (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1664 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
