Glavaš families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Herzegovina , barely Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Jajce area) and in Herzegovina (Grude area). In places Gornji Bešpelj and Vrela in Middle Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Glavaš.
Prevalence
About 2000 people with faimily name Glavaš live in Croatia today, in 860 households. There were 960 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 78 cities and 170 other places, mostly in Zagreb (365), Osijek (170), Slavonski Brod (125), Split (100), and in Pula (70).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1935 in source Faculty of Humanities University of Zagreb Alumni.
