Gazić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Pasman. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Bosnian Krajina (Mrkonjic Grad area).
Prevalence
About 300 people with faimily name Gazić live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 33 other places, mostly in Zadar (40), Zagreb (35), Ivankovo in Vinkovci area (25), Tribanj on the Island of Pasman (25), and in Vinkovci (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
