Gavrilović families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Djakovo area. According to some sources they are from the village Gavrilovici (Sandzak), often Croats from Bjelovara. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Gavrilović live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 32 cities and 36 other places, mostly in Zagreb (80), Tenja (35), Osijek (25), Split (15), and in Slakovci in Vinkovci area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1705 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
