Garić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , barely Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanski Brod area) and in Slavonski Brod. In Koraće in Bosanian Posavina every ninth inhabitant had the family name Garić.
Prevalence
About 860 people with faimily name Garić live in Croatia today, in 370 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 51 cities and 91 other places, mostly in Slavonski Brod (185), Zagreb (150), Osijek (25), Pozega (25), and in Split (20).
