Gašparović families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Novi Vinodolski area. According to some sources more precisely from Triblja near Novi Vinodolski, Ogulin area and the Island of Silba, very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Rijeka. In Modruš in Ogulin area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Gašparović.
Prevalence
About 1200 people with faimily name Gašparović live in Croatia today, in 560 households. There were 1500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 61 cities and 109 other places, mostly in Zagreb (235), Stitar (70), Sukosan in Zadar area (65), Crikvenica (65), and in Rijeka (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
