Fugošić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Krk. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and on the Island of Krk. In Dobrinj on the Island of Krk every ninth inhabitant had the family name Fugošić.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Fugošić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Rijeka (25), in Krk (15), Silo (10) and Vrbnik (<10) on the Island of Krk, and in Crikvenica (<10).
Outside Croatia
At least two families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States. Family name Fugošić (including: Fugosic , Fugosich ) is present in three countries on two continents. "Fugosich " is used by few people in the United States.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
