Duraković families can be both Croats (the family name originates from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia) and Bosniaks (also from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bosanska Krupa area) and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Cazin area). In Šaševci in Middle Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Duraković.
Prevalence
About 300 people with faimily name Duraković live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 37 cities and 43 other places, mostly in Zagreb (70), Rijeka (30), Pula (25), Split (15), and in Dubrovnik (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1842 in source Catholic Church Parish Records 1842.
