Dalmatin families are Croats and they are mostly from Peljesac Peninsula. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Capljina area) and in Dubrovnik. In Žuljana on Peljesac Peninsula every sixth inhabitant had the family name Dalmatin.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Dalmatin live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Zuljana on the Peljesac peninsula (35), Zagreb (10), Osijek (<10), Dubrovnik (<10), and in Metkovic (<10).

Family name Dalmatin is present in 13 countries on four continents.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
