Cvjetićanin families are often Serbs and they are mostly from Obrovac area , less frequently Croats and according to some sources the family name originates from Udbina (Visuc). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Obrovac area and in Gospic. In Visuć in Obrovac area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Cvjetićanin.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Cvjetićanin live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), in Visuc (30) and Udbina (<10) in Obrovac area, Rijeka (<10), and in Dabar (<10).
Outside Croatia
At least two families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States (1) and Germany (1). Family name Cvjetićanin is present in 12 countries on three continents. The family name "Cvjeticanin " is used by small number of people in Germany , small number in the United States , and small number of people in Australia.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
