Cupać families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Benkovac , whereas often Croats (also from Benkovac ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Benkovac and Zadar.
Prevalence
About 210 people with faimily name Cupać live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Rijeka (45), Zadar (30), Korlat (20), Zagreb (<10), and in Benkovac (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
