Crnac families are Croats and they are mostly from Bebrine. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area) and in Pleternica area. In Omolje in Western Bosnia every ninth inhabitant had the family name Crnac.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Crnac live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Bebrina in Pleternica area (50), Zagreb (25), Kutina (25), Trnava in Djakovo area (10), and in Vukovar (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
