Colarić families are Croats and they are mostly from Ozalj area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and Samobor. In Gornja Vas in Samobor every fourth inhabitant had the family name Colarić.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Colarić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Vinkovci (20), Luka (15), Restovo in Ozalj area (10), and in Zapresic (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
