About 80 people with faimily name Cepetić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are only located in four Croatian cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Ivanic-Grad (20), Virje in Djurdjevac area (10), Graberje Ivanicko (<10), and in Pitomaca in Djurdjevac area (<10).

Family name Cepetić is present in this form only in Croatia.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
