Butorović families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Brac.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Butorović live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 7 cities and four other places, mostly in Split (20), Hvar on the Island of Hvar (15), Zagreb (15), Milna on the Island of Brac (15), and in Rijeka (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1935 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
