Burnać families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Knin area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Knin and in Knin area. In Puljane in Knin area every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Burnać.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Burnać live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and four other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Knin (10), Podstrana in Solin area (<10), Split (<10), and in Sibenik (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
