Buratović families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Hvar. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Dubrovnik.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Buratović live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are only located in in 8 Croatian cities and 7 other places, mostly in Vrbanj (35), Stari Grad (25) and Jelsa (15) on the Island of Hvar, Rijeka (15), and in Svirce on the Island of Hvar (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
