Budić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Omis area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Omis area. In Zavelim in Herzegovina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Budić.
Prevalence
About 800 people with faimily name Budić live in Croatia today, in 320 households. There were 640 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 45 cities and 79 other places, mostly in Zagreb (160), Split (90), Arzano in Omis area (35), Sesvete (20), and in Belisce (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1678 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
