Brižić families are Croats and they are mostly from Pozega area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and in Pozega area. In Vurot in Sisak every fifth inhabitant had the family name Brižić.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Brižić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 8 other places, mostly in Preko on the Island of Ugljan (30), Zadar (15), Kaptol in Pozega area (15), Kratecko (10), and in Rijeka (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
