Botić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Kastel Sucurac , barely Bosniaks (from Bosnian Krajina ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Zenica area) and in Split. In Labin in Trogir area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Botić.
Prevalence
About 610 people with faimily name Botić live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 38 cities and 45 other places, mostly in Kastel Novi (130), Kastel Stari (80), Split (75), Zagreb (70), and in Kastel Stafilic (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
