About 150 people with faimily name Bolšec live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Stari Golubovec in Zlatar area (20), Bestovje in Samobor area (15), Petrova Gora in Zlatar area (10), and in Varazdin (<10).

Family name Bolšec (including: Bolsec , Bolschetz ) is present in five countries on two continents. The family name "Bolsec " is used by small number of people in the United States.
