In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Rovinj. In Cukrići in Labin area every third inhabitant had the family name Božac.

About 410 people with faimily name Božac live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 420 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Pula (180), Rovinj (25), and in Zminj (25), Cere (25) and Bencici (15) in Pazin area.
