Bilić families are Croats and they are mostly from Labin area. According to some sources they are from Solin or Livna, Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Režanci in Labin area every second inhabitant had the family name Bilić.
Prevalence
About 5000 people with faimily name Bilić live in Croatia today, in 2000 households. There were 2700 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 96 cities and 339 other places, mostly in Zagreb (935), Split (580), Slavonski Brod (175), Pula (175), and in Sibenik (165).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1716 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
