Bikić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Makarska area , rarely Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area). In Rošnjače in Western Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Bikić.
Prevalence
About 760 people with faimily name Bikić live in Croatia today, in 290 households. There were 330 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 36 cities and 64 other places, mostly in Split (175), Zagreb (120), Karakasica (40), Orebic on the Peljesac peninsula (30), and in Marina in Trogir area (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1705 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
