Berić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from western Bosnia , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Zagreb. In Golinjevo in Western Bosnia every sixth inhabitant had the family name Berić.
Prevalence
About 740 people with faimily name Berić live in Croatia today, in 330 households. There were 950 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 41 cities and 86 other places, mostly in Zagreb (165), Rijeka (40), Novska (30), Ljupina (30), and in Nova Gradiska (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
