Beneš families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Slatina , rarely Czechs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slatina and Virovitica.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Beneš live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Slatina (30), Zagreb (15), Varazdin (<10), Bjelovar (<10), and in Gornji Sredjani in Daruvar area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1937 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
