Basić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area) and in Nova Gradiska.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Basić live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 25 cities and 8 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Split (40), Nova Gradiska (15), Slavonski Brod (<10), and in Tenja (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1842 in source Catholic Church Parish Records 1842.
