Banjeglav families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Obrovac area , whereas often Croats (from Bjelovar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bjelovar and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Banjeglav live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 190 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Bunic in Obrovac area (15), Bjelovar (10), Osijek (<10), and in Karlovac (<10).

In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
