Banjanac families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Glina , but often Croats. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Hrvatska Kostajnica area and in Glina. In Kozaperovica in Glina every tenth inhabitant had the family name Banjanac.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Banjanac live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Kozaperovica (<10), in Ljeskovac (<10), Dvor (<10) and Gornja Oraovica (<10) in Hrvatska Kostajnica area, and in Beli Manastir (<10).
