Bandić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Gornji Vakuf area) and in Herzegovina (Grude area). In Šugine Bare in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Bandić.
Prevalence
About 500 people with faimily name Bandić live in Croatia today, in 210 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 43 other places, mostly in Zagreb (155), Split (60), Sinj (45), Vucipolje in Sinj area (40), and in Osijek (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
