Baćić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Kastav , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and in Slovenia. In Spinčići in Kastav every eighth inhabitant had the family name Baćić.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Baćić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Rijeka (25), Matulji in Opatija area (15), Kastav (15), Drivenik in Novi Vinodolski area (<10), and in Pula (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
