Akrap families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Sinj area (Bisko). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Middle Bosnia (Busovaca area). In Voštane in Sinj area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Akrap.
Prevalence
About 460 people with faimily name Akrap live in Croatia today, in 200 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 29 other places, mostly in Split (170), Zagreb (90), and in Grab (20), Bisko (20) and Vostane (15) in Sinj area.
Outside Croatia
At least 15 families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: Germany (8), the United States (4), Switzerland (1), Austria (1), and to Australia (1). Family name Akrap is present in 21 countries worldwide.
