In Croatia, Žorić families are generally Croats (from the Island of Krk ), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Benkovac and Metkovic.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Žorić live in Croatia today, in 14 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in four Croatian counties and another small place , mostly in Zadar (15), Korlat (<10), Punat on the Island of Krk (<10), Metkovic (<5), and in Zagreb (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1606 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
