Živić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Zupanja area. According to some sources they are from Bosnia, barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slavonski Brod and in Djakovo area. In Sredanci in Djakovo area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Živić.
Prevalence
About 570 people with faimily name Živić live in Croatia today, in 200 households. There were 610 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 32 cities and 48 other places, mostly in Sikirevci in Zupanja area (150), Sredanci in Djakovo area (110), Slavonski Brod (60), Zagreb (30), and in Batina in Beli Manastir area (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
