Žižak families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from western Bosnia , rarely Bosniaks (from Bosnian Posavina ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Drvar area) and in Trogir.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Žižak live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (90), Trogir (55), Rijeka (20), Split (15), and in Velika Gorica (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
