Šuta families are Croats and they are mostly from Makarska area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Makarska area and in Middle Bosnia (Bugojno area). In Jemanlići in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Šuta.
Prevalence
About 180 people with faimily name Šuta live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Makarska (35), Stobrec (20), Split (20), Podstrana in Solin area (15), and in Baska Voda in Makarska area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
