In Croatia, Špiko families are Croats (from Zupanja area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Zupanja area. In Lipa in Western Bosnia every fourtieth inhabitant had the family name Špiko.

Prevalence

About 20 people with faimily name Špiko live in Croatia today, in 9 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled.
They are only located in four Croatian cities and threee other places, mostly in Gradiste in Zupanja area (10), Vinkovci (<10), Hvar on the Island of Hvar (<5), Zapresic (<5), and in Koprivnica (<5).
