Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Špek live in Croatia today, in 10 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in two Croatian counties, threee cities and 5 other places, mostly in Osijek (<10), Breznica Nasicka in Nasice area (<10), Ivanic-Grad (<5), Posavski Bregi (<5), and in Klostar Ivanic in Ivanic-Grad area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
