In Croatia, Šljivo families are predominantly Croats (from Djakovo area ), rarely Bosniaks (from Podrinje (Bosnia) ), and very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Sarajevo area) and in Drnis. In Jeleč in Podrinje (Bosnia) every sixth inhabitant had the family name Šljivo.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Šljivo live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and two other places, mostly in Pula (15), Vodnjan in Pula area (<10), Pag on the Island of Pag (<10), Mokosica (<5), and in Rovinj (<5).

Family name Šljivo is present in 12 countries on three continents. The family name "Sljivo " is used by some 70 people in the United States , small number in Sweden , and small number of people in Canada.
