Škoro families are Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from Imotski area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Middle Bosnia (Jajce area). In Podgrađe in East Herzegovina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Škoro.
Prevalence
About 320 people with faimily name Škoro live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 38 cities and 36 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Petrijevci in Valpovo area (35), Split (25), Runovic in Imotski area (20), and in Dugo Selo (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1942 in source Phone Directory of the Independent State of Croatia 1942.
