Šipoš families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Orahovica area , often Hungarians (from Beli Manastir area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and in Beli Manastir area.
Prevalence
About 350 people with faimily name Šipoš live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 45 other places, mostly in Osijek (50), in Batina (15) and Zmajevac (15) in Beli Manastir area, Varazdin (15), and in Pozega (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
