Šipka families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Bosnian Krajina , but often Croats. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Bosanska Dubica area) and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In Vlaškovci in Bosnian Krajina every third inhabitant had the family name Šipka.

Prevalence

About 60 people with faimily name Šipka live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Zagreb (<10), Rijeka (<10), Karlovac (<10), Virovitica (<10), and in Osijek (<10).

Outside Croatia

At least two families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to Germany (1) and the United States (1).
